The test file eqns_long.tex was originally constructed to test the features of the latex2rtf converter. Later, I used it to test the conversion by TeX4ht.
TeX4ht converts it successfully to eqns_long.odt which is successfully loaded by OpenOffice 2.1. However, the file eqns_long.doc created by OpenOffice with Save As "Microsoft Word97/2000/XP format", when loaded into Microsoft Word 2003, only displays a few of the equations, and even these do not display correctly in many cases. Loading the equations into Word's Equation Editor fixes some of the errors, but is not possible for the equations which aren't displayed at all. So I guess there are some bugs in the .doc export filter of OpenOffice.
I put the test files here. Download them by right-click and "save as":
eqns_long.tex TeX source file
eqns_long.pdf pdf output produced by pdfLaTeX
eqns_long.odt OpenOffice file produced by TeX4ht
eqns_long.doc MS Word file saved from OpenOffice
For ease of testing I also supply a shortened version. Download them by
right-click and "save as":
eqns.tex TeX source file
eqns.pdf pdf output produced by pdfLaTeX
eqns.odt OpenOffice file produced by TeX4ht
eqns.doc MS Word file saved from OpenOffice
